A Geometric Walk Through the Alhambra

Abstract: During the ruling of the Nasrid Dynasty, artists smartly decorated walls, windows, doors, floors and ceilings of the palaces of the Alhambra. In this way, the Alhambra became worldwide famous, among other reasons, for its beautiful decorations. In this exhibition, we will analyze the decorations from a geometric point of view, trying to discover some of the mathematical secrets used by the Nasrid artisans: The use of proportions, Nasrid decorative elements and examples of crystallographic groups.
